Shazam is one of the minor characters in Batman: The Brave and the Bold.
He is voiced by Jim Piddock.
9000 years ago, Jebediah of Canaan lived a simple life as a sheep herder. That soon changed when he was selected by six gods to become their champion, Shazam. They formed the magical word "Vlarem" from the first initial of each of their names. By speaking it, Jebediah was transformed into a superhuman with the strength of Voldar, wisdom of Lumiun, speed of Arel, power of Ribalvei, courage of Elbiam, and stamina of Marzosh.
After 3000 years of service, Shazam sought out someone to succeed him. By this time his benefactors were no longer worshipped and he had to petition the gods for their patronage. Shazam then chose Teth Adam. When Adam spoke the wizard's name, he became Mighty Adam, powered by six Egyptian gods. Teth Adam was corrupted by the power and believed he should rule the world. Shazam was horrified and banished him to a distant planet for all time. On the Rock of Eternity, Shazam waited for another who would succeed him.
In present time, Shazam decided a boy would be the perfect candidate much like when he was chosen. That kindred spirit came in the form of Billy Batson. Shazam transported Batson to him with a mystical subway car and made his offer. Batson accepted and became Captain Marvel. Shazam continues to live in an ascended spirit form and can't leave the Rock of Eternity for long periods of time. He can temporarily create a physical body for himself. From the Rock, Shazam can channel the power of the God-Wave and know all.
Shazam recounted the tale of Black Adam to Billy Batson upon his request only to be met by the villain. He quickly teleported back to the Rock where the battle proceeded. As Black Adam tried to get his revenge on Shazam, Dr. Sivana usurped the wizard's power and tried to kill Captain Marvel. Batman saved the day and Shazam was unharmed. However, he couldn't help but notice a feeling of sadness in the heart of Billy Batson.
